Description
Summary:Photoscotosia atrostrigata (Bremer), ab. (Figs 32a, 32b, 63) Photoscotosia lucicolens , nec Butler: Beljaev & Mironov 2019: 261 (Sakhalin). Material examined. 1 ♀, S Kholmsk, 17.VIII.2016, O. Titova. Remarks. The erroneous report of “ Photoscotosia lucicolens ” from Sakhalin (Beljaev & Mironov 2019, 2021) was based on the aberrant specimen of Ph. atrostrigata , cited here. The specimen possesses the blackish postdiscal blotch on the underside of forewing similar to those of Ph. lucicolens (see Beljaev & Knyazev 2021, figs 5–10), but the genitalia dissection undoubtedly indicated the belonging of this female to Ph. atrostrigata (Fig. 63). Evidently, it is a rare aberration in the wing marking, since we examined dozens of specimens of Ph. atrostrigata from Sakhalin but did not find more specimens of this form. Nevertheless, this sample shows that the shape of the blotch is not an undoubted character to distinguish Ph. atrostrigata from Ph. lucicolens . Thus, Ph. lucicolens has to be excluded from the fauna of Sakhalin. The distribution of Ph. atrostrigata is strictly East Asian. Its indication from S Siberia (Altai and Tuva) (Mironov et al. 2008: 213; Beljaev 2016: 606) is based on a misprint in the first cited publication.
