Distribution. Nearctic, transcontinental in Canada, recorded from A/S (Klimaszewski et al. 2001). Canada : AB, BC, QC. USA : AK, NH. Collection and Habitat data. In NH captured from spruce litter, from dwarf Salix , Vaccinium , and leatherleaf litter, and by sifting Vaccinium , leatherleaf litter with moss and grasses at elevations above 5200’ (1585 m) on Mt. Washington (Klimaszewski et al. 2009b). In this paper the locality of Gorham (794’, 242m) was also recorded, which is at the base of Mt. Washington to its northeast, where a single male was found in red oak wood ships near a river. This locality is on the leeward side of the mountain, and may be a specimen that was blown from the alpine area. In AK found in Salix and moss leaf litter, and in open tussock and willow and bog birch litter. In Canada found in marshes or near wetlands: in Sphagnum hummocks with Carex and grasses in open wet black spruce bog, in grass and Sphagnum at the base of alders in a marsh, and along stream margins among cobblestones under alders or in litter; one swept from Carex in a small Carex marsh (Klimaszewski et al. 2021). Material. USA, New Hampshire , Coos Co. : Mt. Washington, Alpine Garden, 11.IX.1981, D.S. Chandler, berlese spruce litter, 1 male. Comments . The NH specimens were collected at elevations of 1584–1737m, and the only QC specimen was found on Mt. Albert at 1127m, suggesting this is an arctic alpine and or subarctic species (Klimaszewski et al. 2018).
