English only EUR/ICP/LVNG 01 02 01(A) 16 p. The Barents Breastfeeding Promotion Project is part of the Barents Euro-Arctic Region Initiative, by which it is funded. It comprises a series of activities designed to promote breastfeeding and encourage the spread of the WHO/UNICEF Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative in the Barents Region of the Russian Federation and in Karelia. This report describes the activities carried out by WHO in 1996-1997 under the project, and outlines plans for the future
