Highway To Alaska To Be Pushed Anew. HIGHWAY TO ALASKA TO BE PUSHED ANEW WASHINGTON, Aug. 12. UP)— Representative Warren G. Magnuson, Seattle, said today President Roosevelt has instructed the state department to reopen negotiations with Canada with the view to linking the United States and Alaska with a highway through British Columbia and the Yukon territory. Magnuson said he would not press for enactment of his bill to create a highway commission. Approximately 1183 miles of new road is needed. Of this nearly 1000 miles is in Canada. Engineers estimate the project will cost approximately $13,000,000.
