Summary: | Glacier Races On Ice Moves 300 Feet In 24 Hours. GLACIER RACES ON Ice Moves 300 Feet in 24 Hours FAIRBANKS, Alaska, March 24. — (I.N.S.)— Black Rapids Glacier, Alaska's return to the ice age on a miniature scale, resumed its unparalleled movement today by completing a 300-foot march in less than twenty-four hours. The mass of ice, believed started in motion by an earthquake, has traveled over six miles across the countryside since early last winter. The fall of great chunks of ice from the glacier face, a spectacular feature of its early movement, has ceased, but the mass is grinding to powder huge boulders in its path, and pouring a murky stream into Big Delta River, a mile and a quarter away. The glacire is approximately a mile and 300 feet thick at its face.
