WIND BLOWS $800 FROM HIS POCKET KETCHIKAN, Alaska, Oct. 20. (OP)—Out $800, Captain Heinie Berger, veteran skipper of the motorship Discoverer, has decided a pocket is a poor place to keep money on board ship. The money, in bills of $100, $50 and $20 denominations, is lost somewhere in the waters of the gulf of Alaska. The vessel is on the way south to Seattle. "I had it in an envelope in a back pocket, along with a magazine," he said. "A gale was blowing and the wind whipped the envelope out. The bills scattered in all directions." In the spring of 1932, however, Captain Berger had better luck. He was one of three winners of the annual Nenana river ice breakup "guessing contest," receiving a little more than $20,000 as his share of the prize.
