Stampacfers On Kusf dkwim Short cff Food BETHEL. Alaska, Monday, April 19.—(JP)—Hundreds of prospectors, living in cities of tents on Kuskokwim Bay, where they are seeking fortunes in gold and platinum, faced a food shortage today, with the first boat posted to arrive after May 15. The miners, lured here by reports during the winter of a new "strike," were out of potatoes, flour, sugar, beans and some other commodities. No metal in paying quantities has been reported, leading some to doubt the justification of the stampede. Text Kuskokwim Alaska Washington State University: WSU Libraries Digital Collections Pacific
