Summary:Meat Supply Nearly Gone At Ketchikan: Eggs And Green Groceries Scarce Despite Arrival Of Relief Vessel. Meat Supply Nearly Gone At Ketchikan Eggs and Green Groceries Scarce Despite Arrival of Relief Vessel KETCHIKAN, Alaska, Tuesday, Jan. 19. — (/P) — The Ketchikan Chronicle today said that despite arrival of the government-chartered relief ship, Gen. W. C. Gorgas, with 400 tons of freight for Ketchikan, new supplies of fresh meat will be exhausted by tomorrow. It stated that while the Ketchikan cargo included liquors, coal, wire netting and canned goods "in considerable quantities," the Gorgas brought only ten cases of eggs, and that Ketchikan markets were virtually out of green groceries and meats. The motorship North Star is posted to sail from Seattle with additional supplies under federal charter for strike-bound Alaska tomorrow.
