Alaska's Floods Are Spreading Fears Felt for Safety of Holy Cross Residents FAIRBANKS, Alaska, May 28. —IP—Fears were expressed tonight for safety of residents of H'"-- Cross, when airplane observers reported flood waters of the lower Yukon moved toward that point after inundating the town of Nulato. Radio reports still were lacking from points along a 200-mile stretch of the Yukon from Nulato to Holy Cross. Plane passengers arriving from Nome said the river was clear of ice below Nulato, and officials here said they feared inundation of the Holy Cross region. Holy Cross has a Catholic church attended by 150 children, mostly natives, while Nulato has a smaller native school. Occupants of a plane which i ew near Nulato reported all buildings apparently were flooded except the upper stories. Waters of the Chena river at Fairbanks remained at yesterday's level, flooding outskirts of the town. No general alarm was felt here.
