Word of the fire and the rescue was received this afternoon by the Seattle headquarters of the Coast Cause of the fire was not contained in the brief messages picked up here. The Coast Guard crew, helpless to save the main building of the orphanage, kept flames from the power house and water storage plant and prevented the fire from spreading to nearby houses, the messages said.
