(JC)—Fire, believed to have been caused by a defective flue, destroyed the government was saved and communication established today with St. Michael's, about 250 miles away. The station is nearly a mile outside the town and the fire department had great difficulty in reaching the blaze over the snow-covered tundra. The fire ran all around the outside of the building, as the inner walls were protected by noninflammable material, and then the roof caved in. Members of the station crew and their families lost all their possessions.
