ESKIMOS STARVE; SUPPLIES RUSHED WASHINGTON, Aug. 8.—(AP)— The Coast Guard cutter Northland was speeding today toward Point Barrow, Alaska, to land food for more than 400 Eskimos, who were reported at the point of starvation. Commander W. K. Scammell of the Northland wirelessed Rear Admiral Russell R. Waesche, the Coast Guard commandant, that a "serious food shortage exists in the Alaskan villages, inhabited almost entirely by Indian wards of the government" east of Barrow, Alaska. The ship is due at Barrow August, 15.
