Summary:Strange Discoveries Made By Survey Ships. STRANGE DISCOVERIES MADE BY SURVEY SHIPS. Officers of the United States Coast and Geodetic Survey have made some startling discoveries at sea and ashore. Upper left -- The survey fleet moored in Lake Union awaiting the coming of spring when the vessels will head for Alaskan waters. Uppre right -- Comdr. O. W. Swainson, inspector in charge of the Seattle field station of the Coast and Geodetic Survey. Centre -- Left to right: Lieut. G. E. Morris and a crew member of the survey ship Discoverer engaged in plane table topography at Unimak Island, Alaska. Lower left -- Mysteric is Bogoslof Island in Bering Sea, the true position of which was determined by a shore party from teh Discoverer. Lower right -- Lieutenant Morris transporting equipment on the west end of Unimak Island.
