MORE SMALLPOX IN ALALSKA Many Cases Reported From Candle And Other Places. Nome, Alaska Nov. 28. (/P) -- A second epidemic of smallpox in western Alaska within a week was reported here today, with advices that 22 cases had broken out in Candle and others at Deering and Noorvick. Governmental relief has been asked for the three native villages, which are within 100 miles of each other and 200 miles northeast of Nome. A previous outbreak of the disease, which frequently takes heavy toll among the natives, was checked over the weekend by Dr. Sutherland, government physician, who flew from Fairbanks to Marshal and Mountain Village. He vaccinated many Indians and left sufficient vaccine to care for the district, over which a "shot-gun quarantine" was established. With his pilot, Noel Wein, he is in Nome awaiting favorable weather to return to Fairbanks.
