(/P)— Aniakchak, world's largest explosive crater, is now putting on a new eruption and eight of us are camped on the steaming floor of the mammoth volcano. We will spend 10 days in the crater, charting the new eruptions, taking temperatures of the fumaroles (holes from which volcanic vapors issue) and studying formation of the minerals. We expect this expedition will climax the three years scientific study of Aniakchak by the Santa Clara expedition and it is expected to yield interesting and valuable data.
