Description
Summary:On 1000-Mile Midwinter Arctic Trek. ON 1000-MILE MIDWIXTER ARCTIC TREK: Mary Joyce, 27-year-old mistress of a Taku river hunting lodge, left last Sunday on the second long lap of her Taku-Fairbanks trip. She had rested a week at Whitehorse, Y. T., after covering 225 miles. Her next destination is Kluane, Y. T., where "roads" end. One stretch she had to pull Tip, her lead dog, and others of her five-dog team, from the water after they had fallen in crossing on ice cukes. She left Taku December 20 and plans to be in Fairbanks for the March ice carnival.
