Description
Summary:Ells Of Alaskan Trail: Goodwill Emissary Gives Data To Tourist Publicity Bureau. ELLS OF ALASKAN TRAIL Goodwill Emissary Gives Data to Tourist Publicity Bureau. The scenic wonders of the region north eventually to be tapped by a modern highway were described to members of the publicity tourist bureau at the Davenport yesterday by the rangy, bronzed goodwill emissary of the International Highway of the Yukon association, Clyde C. (Slim) Williams, dog team freighter of Copper Center, Alaska. "Musher" Williams, who has come 2700 miles, much of it over unmarked areas of northern wilderness, behind his malamutes since he left his home town last September 20, is resting a few days in Spokane before continuing his journey to the Century of Progress exposition in Chicago and from there to Washington, D. C., where he plans to tell President Roosevelt of the international highway project. He said the trail he blazed from Carcross, Yukon territory, to Hazelton, B. C, about 200 miles inland from the Pacific coast, would offer no insurmountable difficulties to construction of a modern automobile highway.
