Unsung hero of arctic wastes, Earl Hammod comes to Spokane with a bunch of his pals, the Siberian sled dogs, who have mushed with him over many an icy trail north of the circle. Mr. Hammond is on a lecture tour of the northwest. In April, 1927, he rescued Earl Rossman and Sandy Smith, who were attached to the Wilkins expedition, between Nome and Point Barrow. Photo shows Mr. Hammond with three of his 14 sled dogs. "Husky." leader of the team, hat his nose in the air as he demonstrates a real call of the wild. Last night Mr. Hammond was the guest of Mr. and Mrs. George S. Sylvester, W132 Twenty-sixth, who were residents of Point Barrow in 1926 and 1927.
