Summary:Alaska Flyer Goes On Mercy Mission. ALASKA FLYER GOES ON MERCY MISSION ANCHORAGE, Alaska, July 8. (/P) —Responding to a call to rush aid, Pilot Roy Dickson of the Star Airways left here at 2 a. m., today for Mountain Village, otherwise known as "Old Andreafski," on the lower Yukon, with infantile paralysis serum. With perfect visibility and sunlight for 24 hours, Dickson expected to arrive tonight, going by way of McGrath, where Helen Koenig, noted girl Eskimo aviation service mechanic would refuel his plane. Dr. M. M. Corthell is the physician in charge of the government hospital at Mountain Village. There are two nurses at the hospital. Mountain Village is a small trading post with one store. Only a few Indians reside in the community.
