This settlement of 1500 persons scanned cloud-heavy skies today and watched heavy fog banks roll over the jagged ice of Bering sea in unfavorable flying When word of his take-off from Khabarovsk was received, it was estimated he would arrive between 16% and 17 hours later. On the first long leg of his trip he averaged about 150 miles an hour. With an equal speed he should cover the 2500 miles from the Siberian coast and be in th e vicinity of western Alaska between 3 and 4 a. m. Tuesday, Pacific daylight time.
