Description
Summary:Lindys Prepare For Pacific Hop. LINDYS PREPARE FOR PACIFIC HOP NOME, Alaska, Aug. 12. OP)—Colonel and Mrs. Charles A. Lindbergh, flying vacationers, who in two weeks have traversed Canadian and Alaskan wilds, rested here today, their last American point before hopping for Siberia and the orient. Extensive entertainment plans were under way. Their glistening low-winged monoplane sat on the waters of Safety bay, 21 miles to the cast. Colonel Lindbergh brought it down there at 1:40 p. m., P. S. T., yesterday, after an hour's flight from Shismaref, on the north side of the Seward peninsula. "We are enjoying ourselves immensely," was the frequently repeated reply of Lindbergh and his diminutive wife today to their many admirers. "Must Be Off" Tomorrow. Before retiring last night, Lindbergh told his hosts, Grant R. Jackson, the banker, and his wife, they planned to remain here all of today and tonight. With weather permitting tomorrow morning, he added, they must be on their way. Completing a flight from Point Barrow begun Monday night, which was broken when fog and thick weather forced them to land near Shismaref and remain for 10 hours tossing on the waves, Lindbergh brought his plane over Nome at 1 p. m., P. S. T., yesterday.
