(/P) -- Soft snow cut short the attempt of Parker Cramer and W. S. Gamble, Chicago flyers, to cover 100 miles in the first day of their flight from Nome to New York. Nosing their plane through a succession of fog, rain and snwo, the pair arrived here today six hours after they took off from Nome on the first 599-mile leg of their flight. But Cramer was unable to lift the plane off the wet snow and the pair were forced to stay in Fairbanks overnight. Planes Round-World Flight. WICHITA, Kan., April 27. (/P). -- Clyde V. Cessna, president of the Cessna Airplane company here, announced tonight that Cramer would attempt to break the round-the-world record this summer or fail. A special plane is being built in the Cessna factory for the flight. It will be powered by a 400 horse-power motor.
