Turks Take Air For Sourdoughs. TURKS TAKE AIR FOR SOURDOUGHS SEATTLE, Dec. 22. C43)—Old Saint Nick, pockets full of gold, took wings in Alaska today and started rushing Christmas cheer by airplane to the prosperous mining districts. Ski-shod planes carrying turkeys, holly, mistletoe, lettuce, candy and toys zoomed from Anchorage, Nome and Fairbanks, for higher gold prices have brought a flood of the yellow metal from scores of placer and lode camps, and the white-whiskered saint is showing the effects of prosperity. Within the last 15 days alone approximately $2,500,000 worth of gold came down from camps. The total gold for the territory this year is estimated at $10,000,000. Planes started leaving Anchorage daily with luxuries from the states, turkeys forming a heavy part of the loads carried for a radius of 500 miles.
