Suspect Held In Ketchikan To Face Trial: Arthur Meeker Brought To Alaska Post In Irons Eagles Will Bury Victim Here. SUSPECT HELD IN KETCHIKAN TO FACE TRIAL Arthur Meeker Brought to Alaska Post in Irons; Eagles Will Bury Victim Here Arthur Meeker and Joseph Faden, Seattle municipal railway employees and friends of long standing, went to Alaska two years ago to live together aboard a thirty-five-foot boat. Last night the United States coast guard cutter arrived at Ketchkan, Alaska, from Craig. Aboard was the body of. Faden, and in irons, awaiting trial on a first degree murder charge, was meeker. Details of he slaying, as relayed by the coast guard and the Associated Press, were few. The alleged murder apparently took place on the gas boat Frolic, which the two men had jointly built, expecting to spend years in one another's company, fishing in Alaskan waters and trapping on the shore. MEEKER SAVED IN WAR Meeker was in charge of. a deputy United States marshal. As he stepped off the boat he was served with a copy of the murder complaint. Meeker served on the battleship Oregon during the Spanish-American War. He entered municipal railway service in July, 1922, resigning to go to Alaska in August, 1934. He is fifty-five. Formerly he had lived at 1707 W. 62nd St. and at 2224 Sth Ave., which also was Faden's address before the two left the city. Faden, sixty-two, had worked for the railway fourteen years, resigning in November, 1934. Faden was a life member of the Eagles, and the Eagles last night were arranging to bring his body to Seattle for burial.
