A vigilance committee found the footprints of a stranger on the tundra east of the settlement and corresponding tracks to the westward presumably where the burglar departed. While the efficient committee has asked for no help in solving the Arctic mystery, the impulse to suggest that the miscreant didn't go northward is irresistible.
