Ketchikan, Alaska, Acts To Purchase Utilities KETCHIKAN, Alaska, Feb. 19— Acting to stem possible interference with the previously-agreed sale of the electric, water and telephone utilities to the city of Ketchikan, the city council by resolution has accepted an offer of two New York brokerage firms to handle a $960,000 bond issue bearing 5(1/2) percent interest. The two firms bid to take the issue at par. The next best offer was from the H. C. Speer & Sons of Chicago to take a 6- per cent issue at par. James H. Causey & Co. and B. J. Van Ingen & Co. were the successful bidders. Of the issue, $940,000 will go to buy the utilities, $20,000 to pay incidental expenses in connection with the purchase.
