Summary:Canneries Change Hands: Pacific American Company Buys Five Alaskan Plants And Ship. CANNERIES CHANGE HANDS Pacific American Company Buys Five Alaskan Plants and Ship. BELLINGHAM, Wash. Jan. 8. (/P)--involving a consideration of 53,000,000, the Pacific American company purchased five Alaskan canneries, a steamship and floating equipment, E. B. Deming, president, announced here today. The steamship North King and two canneries at Bristol bay were purchased from the Alaska-Portland Packers' association. Canneries on Kodtak Island were bought from the Alltak Packing company and the Robinson Fisheries corporation, while the fifth cannery. In southeastern Alaska, was taken over from the Petersburg Packing company. These additions give the Bellingham concern 17 canneries In Alaska and two on Puget sound. All of the canneries and the steamship will be operated this year. Deming said.
