EXTENDS ALASKA CRUISE Additional scenic itinerary has been added to the Seattle Chamber of Commerce 1937 goodwill-business tour of Alaska, according to Chairman Thomas M. Pelly of the chamber's cruise committee. "Additions to the cruise will be trips to the interior region of Fairbanks, a visit at the Matanuska project and a special reception at the Annette Islands by the Metlakatla Indians," said Pelly yesterday. "We have just received a letter from James Evans, secretary of the Annette Islands Council, inviting our party to stop en route to hear a special concert by their Indian band of sixty members. Scenic features to be enjoyed by tour members will include Auk Lake and Mendenhall Glacier near Juneau; Lake Bennett and "Dead Horse Gulch" in the Skagway area Childs and Miles Glacier near Cordova, and the Sitka Memorial Park at Sitka." Pelly called attention to the fact that members of the cruise making the special trip into Fairbanks will have opportunity to spend a day fishing in the Russian River, stay in Anchorage a day and a night and visit Mount McKinley National Park. After seeing the tallest peak on the North American continent they will leave for Fairbanks and the gold fields. On the return trip from Fairbanks they will tour the Richardson Highway into Valdez, spending a night en route at Paxton's Lake, where fishing for grayling and trout will be available. Pelly also reported that reservations have been made by almost 120 persons and that scores of inquiries are pouring in from business and professional leaders of the city. The cruise party will leave Seattle June 5 and be back June 20.
