SNOW GROUNDS SEARCH PLANES BARROW, Alaska, Sept. 20. UP)— Russian flyers, searching for six comrades missing since August 13 on a transpolar flight to the United States, were snowbound at this farthest north Alaskan town today. They had planned yesterday on an overnight flight to confer with colleagues at the Russian north pole camp, but the storm prohibited the venture. Pilot Harold Gillam brought them heavy clothing, emergency rations and fresh food supplies from Fairbanks over the weekend, and wireless dispatches quoted A. Vartanian, in charge of the search here, as saying the hunt for Commander Sigismund Levaneffsky, "the Lindbergh of Russia" and his five companions will continue indefinitely. The wireless also brought word Sir Hubert Wilkins, noted explorer and repeatedly praised by the Russians here and at Fairbanks for his search efforts, landed at Aklavik, N. W. T., yesterday after a fifth unsuccessful flight in search of clews to the missing plane.
