Description
Summary:Storms Delay Plane Search. STORMS DELAY CORDOVA, Alaska, Nov. 25. (/P) —Rainstorms and poor visibility kept search planes grounded here and at Juneau today as the coast guard patrol boat Morris pounded along the gulf of Alaska coast seeking a tri-motored plane and 14 occupants unreported on a 500-mile flight to Juneau. The plane was piloted by Chet Brown, and contained his mechanic and 12 passengers when it left at 9 a. m. (10 a. m., P. S. T.) Sunday. The Morris wirelessed from 45 miles off Cape Yakataga today that it was encountering rough seas, a six-mile southeast wind and rain. Brown's colleagues here said low tides would have permitted a landing on the beach. Brown purchased a tri-motor plane in Glendale, Cal., five months ago to form his own company, Arctic Airways, after working for five years as a Northern Air Lines pilot.
