FIND NO TRACE OF ALASKA AIR PARTY Six Planes Search Route From Dawson to Fairbanks Without Result; Four People May Be Lost. Fairbanks, Alaska, Aug. 22.—UP)—Six ace Alaska fliers, directed by Murray Hall, aeronautics inspector for the territory, shuttled back and forth over rugged country near the Alaska-Yukon territory boundary line today searching for a missing passenger plane, unheard from for three days. The four persons aboard were John Lonz, prominent Fairbanks merchant, and his bride of a month, Alton Nordale, clerk of the U. S. district court here, and Pilot Arthur F. Hines. Their plane left Dawson, Y. T, Monday forenoon and was last sighted over Chicken, Alaska, 100 miles to the west, at noon. Country Is Rugged. The country is rugged and mountainous, which would have made a forced landing in their ship, a wheel-equipped plane, difficult. Aboard the plane, however, were food supplies for a week, guns, an axe and other emergency equipment. Today, basing at Tanana crossing, the searching planes swept back and forth over the country, but no signs of the plane nor any smoke were sighted. Hall, who flies his own plane, was placed In charge of the search, at a conference of pilots yesterday.
