| Summary: | CELEBRITIES TO BE AT DEDICATION CELEBRITIES TO BE AT DEDICATION Joe Crosson, noted Alaskan flyer who flew from Fairbanks with the bodies of Will Rogers and Wiley Post, and Stanley Morgan of Point Barrow, first to reach the bodies after their plane crashed, will be among the guests of honor at the dedication of the Will Rogers Memorial Field at 2:30 o'clock tomorrow afternoon. With Crosson will be his pretty young wife, a former Seattle girl, who was in the party that last saw Rogers and Post alive when they waved good-by to the famous pair as they took off from Fairbanks last August. Crosson will arrive by plane from New York tomorrow morning to meet his wife at the New Washington Hotel, and will find awaiting him the committee's invitation to take part in the dedicatory ceremonies. "They were in such high spirits when they took off," Mrs. Crosson said yesterday as she told of those last good-bys to Rogers and Post. "Joe and I had spent the morning driving them about Fairbanks. It seemed incredible when the word came they had crashed, and that both were killed. Rogers had joked with us until the engine drowned out his words." Another celebrity arriving for the dedication is Tommy Hitchcock, "the world's greatest polo player," who is due from New York by plane this noon. He was the intimate friend of Rogers and often had played polo with him. And S. L. Savidge, general chairman, said yesterday he hopes that Mrs. Mae Post, widow of the globe-circling aviator, will accept the invitation to be there. M. H. 0. Williams, president of the Olympic Riding and Driving Club, will be master of ceremonies at the dedication. Jack McWhirter, president of the Olympic Polo Association, will speak briefly and the statue of Rogers will be unveiled. And after the program Hitchcock will play three chukkers each with the Spokane and Olympic polo teams in a tournament rededicating very field where Will Rogers played his last game of the sport he loved above all others.
