RESCUING PLANES IN SORE STRAITS Two Wrecked, Three Other Aviators Missing. By Associated Press. NOME, Alaska, April 1.—Loaded with supplies for planned dog team rescues of 89 Russians marooned on the ice off the Siberian shore, Pilot M. T. Sletneff, flying the second plane of the Russian air expedition basing here, took off shortly after noon for Cape Vankarem, Siberia. The weather was reported clear most of the way, although with overcast skies at the top of Seward peninsula. He was accompanied by Bill Lavery, an assistant mechanic, of Fairbanks. The expedition's first plane, which left here on Thursday,has been forced, down twice on-the way to Cape Vankarem, with Pilot F. A. Levanevsky slightly injured the second time and the propeller damaged. Prof. George Yushakoff, expedition leader, was on the first plane. Two Planes Wrecked MOSCOW, April 1.
