Description
Summary:"Queen City" Is Air Base: Burial Place Of Emperors Shaken Out Of Ancient Apathy. "QUEEN CITY" IS AIR BASE: Burial Place of Emperors Shaken Out of Ancient Apathy. LOYANG, Honan Province, China,Feb. 10. (/P)—This hoary old "Queen City" of China, burial place of emperors, was slowly being shaken out of an ancient apathy today by the sing-song labor of thousands of coolies building a gigantic air base to command the rich northwest territories. General Chiang Kai-Shek, the energetic military leader, has chosen this site for one of the four "key bases" under construction at far-flung points for the government's rapidly expanding air force, its most potent weapon in suppressing incipient rebellion and halting civil wars.
