Pullen, former University of Washington student and first cadet from Alaska to enter West Point military academy, the distinguished service cross, according to official announcement made yesterday. The award was made by Gen. Pershing for the distinguished gallantry and leadership of the officer in directing a tank attack on the Boise de Cuisy and for rallying a disorganized force of infantry, after which he led it in the face of violent machine gun fire and successfully occupied the ground taken by the tanks.
