THREE COUNTIES TO VOTE UPON DRY ACT Prohibition Fight Centers In Asotin, Whitman and Garfield and Is Issue In 19 Incorporated Towns. Asotin is among the three counties and 19 incorporated cities and towns which will hold local option elections Tuesday to decide whether to "repeal" repeal. That will be the status of repeal on election day—just a month and two days short of repeal's third birthday. The preponderance of dry sentiment which forced local option on the ballot was found in Whitman county, where—besides the county— 14 towns will ballot on the issue. Sunnyside in Yakima county will not have a local option vote. The superior court granted an injunction brought on the ground the petition did not comply with state law provisions. The action was similar to that in Pomeroy, where the court upheld the right to vote on the issue. Mostly on East Side. Counties voting on local option (including all area outside incorporated cities and towns): Whitman, Asotin, Garfield. Cities and towns: Whitman county—Pullman, Colfax, Endicott, Palouse, Garfield, St. John, Rosalia, Oakesdale, Lamont, Tekoa, Albion, Farmington, Elberton, Lacrosse. Asotin county—Asotin. Garfield county—Pomeroy. Okanogan county—Pateros, Brewster. Island county—Coupevile. Two towns already have local option. Rockford, near Spokane, decided it did not want liquor shortly after repeal. Nooksack, in Whatcom county, voted to become dry about a year ago.
