| Summary: | 'Dead' Man Back, Faces Divorce. 'DEAD' MAN BACK, FACES DIVORCE. Henry Penger, Stevens hotel here, whose reported death in the sinking of the fishing boat Tacoma in the Bering sea in 1918 resulted in the remarriage of his wife, who supposed him dead, was sued for a divorce yesterday. The Yakima correspondent of The Spokesman-Review last night reported that Penger had been sued there by Marie Jarvi, who recently brought action against 47 Tieton residents for libel and won a $1 verdict. She testified at the trial she married John Jarvi when she believed Henry Penger dead in a ship disaster. Penger, who is a Spokane tailor, said last night that he was on the Tacoma when it sank in the ice floe of the Bering sea in 1918. The boat was crushed and the 148 on board took to the lifeboats. Penger said he with others started toward a ship some 12 miles away in the floe and he went to sleep in a small boat and was lost from the remainder of the group. He was reported lost but picked up later and another boat brought him to the States.
