Christmas Money Coming To Farms As Wheat Payment: Two AAA Allotments To Total $6,000,000 In State; Compliance Work Nears End. CHRISTMAS MONEY COMING TO FARMS AS WHEAT PAYMENT TWO AAA AUGMENTS TO TOTAL $6,000,000 IN STATE; COMPLIANCE WORK NEARS END. Wheat farmers of the State of Washington will have at least $6,000,000 Christmas money to spend, for by that time they will have received allotment checks from the Agricultural Adjustment administration for the final 1934 payment and the first 1935 payment. Final compliance checking at the state wheat headquarters located in the Agricultural Extension service office at the State College of Washington is being rushed to completion, with all but three wheat counties in the state having submitted their compliance forms. As soon as 85 per cent of the contracts in any county have been inspected the compliance forms are sent to the state office where they are checked and forwarded to the wheat section at Washington, D. C. for final approval. After being reviewed there, and approved, checks are mailed to farmers. They will receive a maximum of eight cents a bushel as a final payment on the 1934 crop and approximately 20 cents as the first 1935 payment. This is expected to amount to a total of $2,000,000 for the 1934 allotment and $4,000,000 for the first 1935 payment. Payment is made from the processing tax levied on 54 per cent of the farmer's average production during the base years of 1929-1932, inclusive. State auditing of compliance forms is being finished about a month earlier this year than last year. The completion of the work marks the wind-up of the present AAA contract and is being finished just before the inauguration of the new four year contract. The new contract blanks and administrative rulings have already been received at the state office in Pullman. These will be explained to county extension workers, allotment committeemen and others at two district meetings which are being held this week; one at Yakima, Sept. 23 and 24 and the other at Spokane, Sept. 25 and 26. These are merely preliminary meetings to be followed by meetings in each one of the wheat counties at which the new contracts will be explained to farmers who will have an opportunity to ask questions concerning the four year adjustment program. Wheat farmers have already received three AAA payments since the wheat adjustment program was initiated. There have been two 1933 payments and one 1934 payment. There are three more to come; the final one for 1934 and the two for 1935. The 18 counties which have already reported include: Adams, Asotin, Benton, Columbia, Douglas, Franklin, Garfield, Grant, Island, Kittitas, Klickitat, Lincoln, Lewis-Clark, Pend Oreille, Spokane, Stevens, Walla Walla and Yakima.
