Manhunt Spurred By $500 Reward. Pistol Bullet Only Clue In Sylvan Slaying. MANHUNT SPURRED BY $500 REWARD. Pistol Bullet Only Clue In Sylvan Slaying. A $500 reward offered by the sister of Patrick J. Kelly, 46, slain in his Sylvan store at the peak of Canyon road Friday night, yesterday spurred search for the unseen slayer. Mrs. Mary Ross, sister and partner of Kelly, gave the reward check to Sheriff Pratt. Pratt and his deputies worked on two theories for the crime—robbery, and revenge. The latter entered due to Kelly's participation in arrest of three burglars, trapped in his store on two occasions by his burglar alarm and sent to the penitentiary. Flattened Bullet Clue. The only present clue deputy sheriffs have to identify, the gunman is a lead bullet, flattened at both ends and believed to have been fired from a .38-caliber revolver. The bullet was removed from the victim's head yesterday by coroner's physicians. It was turned ever to Stanley MacDonald, in charge of the criminal identification bureau of the sheriff's office. Deputy sheriffs last night were checking on the possibility that a stolen car had been used by the killer or killers. About 15 or 20 minutes before 7 o'clock Friday night a sedan was stolen from in front of a house on Corbett street, near the Ross island bridge. The Car was found abandoned later in the Fulton district. Girl Notices Sedan. In their investigations they had been told by Dorothy Fulghan, 11, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Fulghan, owners of the Tip Top tavern, that when she and her two younger sisters had gone into the store a few minutes before 7 o'clock she had seen a sedan parked in Kelly's garage, back of the store, occupied by two men. Officers obtained a fingerprint from the steering wheel.
