Will Arrive at Spokane September 13, Instead of September 6. The house committee on irrigation and reclamation will arrive here September 13, instead of September 6, to inspect the Columbia basin irrigation project, it was announced yesterday by Mark Woodruff, secretary of the Columbia Basin Irrigation league. This change in plans was made because some members of the irrigation and reclamation committee are also members of the house subcommittee on. appropriations for the interior department, and this subcommittee will be out here in July. The subcommittee on appropriations will arrive at Seattle July 18; go from there to Alaska; and August 6 will be met by a party of the Columbia Basin Irrigation league at Yakima and taken over the project by auto to Spokane. Congressman Addison T. Smith of Idaho, chairman of the irrigation and reclamation committee, and Congressman Scott Leavitt of Montana, a member, are also members of the appropriations subcommittee. Congressman John W. Summers of Washington is a member of the subcommittee. Mr. Woodruff announced that Spokane manufacturers, under the leadership of Ren Rice of the manufacturers' association, are sending letters to eastern manufacturers and jobbers from whom they buy their raw materials, asking them to use their influence with their congressmen to gain support for the Columbia basin project.
