As the storm continued, the government jetties at the west end of the town were badly wrecked. The waves were breaking over the former site of Front street before the 1930 fire. The coast guard made an early estimate of $40,000 damage. A check of property owners, however, set the losses at more than $125,000 to buildings,' foundations and stocks.
