Air Conditioned Climate All Year AIR CONDITIONED CLIMATE ALL YEAR It may be a little hard to get all "hot" about a cruise to Alaska when we read about temperatures of 64 below zero at Fort Yukon, 'and most of the United States has been in the grip of" the worst blizzard in years; nevertheless, we would be a lot warmer right now on the coast of Alaska than in eastern Washington. The Japan current warms southeastern Alaska, so that it seldom freezes in this wonderland of nature. Alaska is indeed a land of contrasts, for today while Whitman county's thermometers are 'way below zero, it is so warm in Cerdova that water will not freeze. Next summer, when it is hot and dusty in the fnla.nl Umpire, we must remember that in Alaska cool breezes make for the most comfortable climate in the world. For Alaska's climate is air-conditioned. A gentle breeze blows down off glaciers thousands of years old, is filtered through fragrant fir boughs, and warmed by a crazy sun that forgets to set. Modern engineers with all their gadgets cannot perfect conditions so delightful; so healthful; so stimulating. Nor can the best of artists reproduce Alaska's magnificent scenery.
