Admission Charge to These Movies Is Just One Fish Admission Charge to These Movies Is Just One Fish Bethel, Alaska, Knows That Civilization Has Come to Country BETWEL, Alaska, Nov. 13—(AP) —An Eskimo boy paraded the mile- long two-plank sidewalk of Bethel's "main street" today, ringing a cowbell and turning himself proudly so all could read the legend emblazoned on his sandwich-bqard. It stated: Moving Pictures Today. Admission One Fish. And Bethel's twenty whites and 200 Eskimos knew civilization had reached the Kuskokwim river country. The Northern Commercial company trading post manager arranged it last August, when the last boat of the season brought talking pictures sufficient to last until navigation reopens next June on a twice-a-week basis. Reruns are made of the most popular films. The admission charge—one 'fish —leaves it optional with the Eskimo movie patrons whether they pay one smoked salmon or one smoked whitefish, full size. The smoked fish, staple diet of sledge dogs, later is sold by the ;rader to dog drivers for cash.
