The cessation, due to shortage of supplies necessary for preparing salmon, added 3,000 trolling craft to the unemployed lists. Local fish buyers have received instructions to purchase salmon, but have only sufficient supplies to last three days at the most, due to the longshoremen's strike at southern coastal points. More than 100,000 salmon were being landed daily, and there is more than that amount on boats docked here now.
