(Deacon) Jones, president of the Fairbanks Curling club, announced today that the beef-and- greens bonspiel, which started last week, will decide which four Fairbanks players will defend the international trophy against all comers next spring. Women invaded the sport last week, for the first time here, and are alert] "skips," Jones said. They plan team matches similar to those renewed this year by men teams for traditional weekly beef-and-greens dinners. Daw- son. Y.T., is Fairbanks' chief north land curling competitor. Simultaneously, the Fairbanks' Hockey association disclosed plans! progressing for a 10-team Alaska- Yukon territory league this winter. Interest is increasing particularly in hockey, with new rinks under way or [ completed at Fairbanks, Anchorage,' Nome, Skagway, Cordova and Juneau.' Alaska, and at Whitehorse, Dawson and Mayo, Y. T. Fairbanks provides two teams, the City association and the University of Alaska, each with its own ice rink.
