Summary:Cargo Volume To And From Alaska Heavy CARGO VOLUME TO AND FROM ALASKA HEAVY Substantial Movement Continues Both Ways; Several Arrivals and Departures Slated-- By E. J. DALBY Continuing the heavy movement of Alaskan products to Seattle and cannery supplies and general cargo to the North, which saw near capacity cargoes inward and outward on three ships late last week, the Alaska Steamship Company will have had two arrivals and four sailings during the period from Saturday until Wednesday. Ships which brought in loads from the North last week were the Yukon, Tanana and Lakina, while for the period in question the Aleutian and Northwestern both docked yesterdav from Southeastern ports. Sailings include the Yukon Saturday for Southeastern and South- j •western calls and the Aleutian today and the Northwestern tomorrow clearing for Southeastern ports. The Wednesday sailing will be that of the Tanana for South- ] eastern and Southwestern cannery ports with cannery supplies and to load a capacity cargo for return. Besides the favorable freight totals, all ships with passenger accommodations are going out fully booked with tourists. LOWER COMMUTATION RATES Generally reduced commutation rates for the truck movement of freight both ways between Seattle | and Manchester, Alki and Man Chester, Edmonds and Kingston, Seattle and Bremerton, Edmonds and Port Ludlow and Edmonds and Port Townsend are announced by the Puget Sound Navigation Com- Commutation books are sold for *even-day periods with lower rates for the larger number of trips during the period. Each- truck or trailer will be eounted as one unit and owners must register state license plate numbers with the Puget Sound Navigation Company. Those using the commutations May use one route entirely or go via one route, returning over any other covered.
