Ship Sails With Coal for Needy Arctic Wastes Ship Sails With Coal for Needy of Arctic Wastes SEWARD, Alaska, July 15--(U.P)-- —With a thousand tons of Alaska-mined coal aboard, the U. S. S. North Star, supply ship of interior, today was en route on its maiden voyage to distribute coal among the goverment hospitals and schools of the arctice settlement. Under command of Captain Whitlam, the North Star expected to reach Seattle the end of July and then sail for Point Barrow. The veteran master reported that Unalaska and Dutch harbor were experiencing the greatest herring run in history. Captain Whitlam indicated that heavy ice floes continued outside Kotzbue sound and blocked progress of the freighters Arthur Baldwin and the Berblay.
