W. Roberts, 1318 Twelfth street, who can claim a little of the credit for furnishing music to the carols which will be sung tonight throughout the village by the native, white and children of mixed blood. While teaching at the Orchard Avenue private school in Spokane some 12 years ago, Mrs. Roberts had as one of her students a girl who is now Mrs. Frank Daugherty, who with her husband, are the government teachers directing the Christmas activities in the little Alaskan village close to the aurora borealis. Since that time Mrs. Roberts and Mrs. Daugherty wrote asking for words and music to songs which were sung during the Christmas season by students at the Orchards Avenue school. Mrs. Roberts sent copies of "Holy Night, Silent Night," and "Hark, the Herald Angels Sing," and : others which, according to the AP story, will form an integral part of the Barrow Christmas caroller's pro- 1 gram. Mrs. Roberts visited the Daughertys in Fairbanks, Alaska, four years ago before they accepted the teaching post in the northern settlement.
