GOLD EQUIPMENT TO ALASKA MINE Spokane Man With Tractors and Supplies for Kougorok—May Operate in Three Weeks. Equipment for the Continental Gold Mining company at Kougorok, Alaska, was to have been loaded on a steamship of the Bering Transportation company at Seattle yesterday. William J. Porter left for the Sound Friday to check on the parts which include caterpillar tractors, wagons, hydraulic plant, groceries and other supplies. Carl E. Hallberg, manager, and Bert Hilgerson, general foreman, the last named of Spokane, will leave the ship at Seward, from where they will fly to the property to prepare for the receipt of the equipment. Others of the crew will continue with the ship. Lighters will float the cargo from the harbor to Davis Landing, from where it will be hauled by the tractors to the scene of operations on Henry creek. It is expected that operations may be started in three weeks. It is stated that the company has eight miles of gold placer ground, consisting of 27 claims along Henry creek. The property is on the Seward peninsula, 40 miles from Teller.
