SPOKANE PEOPLE ENTER KETCHIKAN GOLD MINE H. H. Tilley, a native of Wardner, Idaho, reports the further disclosure of gold ore in a wide body in the property of the Evis Gold Mines corporation at tidewater in Thome Arm, 22 miles east of Ketchikan, Alaska, owned by himself, Spokane and other associates. "Hole No. 1 penetrated ore for 16 feet and the samples tested contained two ounces to the ton," he said yesterday. "Hole No. 2 entered ore for 37 feet and contained $56 to $100, and No. 3 was of undetermined width and value but the values were good. The maximum depth attained was 300 feet and the length of ore indicated by the three holes was 1350 feet." Tilley said mining, power and milling equipment had been bought, that cement was being poured for foundations and that a 50-ton mill would be installed in 60 days.
